The State Capitol won't be the same
March 1, 2011 - Bill Speer
Life is full of Monday Morning quarterbacks. Hindsight seems always better (not to mention a whole lot easier) than foresight.
Not surprising then has been the reaction on the street ever since Gov. Rick Snyder announced his 2012 fiscal year budget that will take effect Oct. 1. Some take exception to Snyder's tax on pensions, others object to his reduction in school aid formula for pupils. Some believe he is taking from the poor to benefit the wealthy, while others believe he favors business at the expense of consumers.
What's a governor to do?
Well, wonder no longer. Today and e-mail crossed through my computer from the folks at The Center for Michigan. It seems they have created a budget game for state residents to play on the computer. The interactive game "asks users if they can manage Michigan's piggybank better than the politicians."
As of March 1 already 5,000 people had played the game - including me. Trust me, it is tough. Thankfully for all my readers I will not be headed to Lansing anytime soon.
Now's your chance to play the game as well. Here is the URL you will need to begin: http://janus.pscinc.com/budgetsim/Default.aspx
