| | Are you ready...October 6, 2011 - Bill SpeerIt figures. Since 1989 every Monday Night Football game played has opened with Hank Williams Jr. singing "Are You Ready for Some Football?" The song and football game have been synonymous with each other, like bread and butter. No longer will that be the case. This week, after Williams made an analogy between President Barack Obama and Adolf Hitler in a Fox News story, ESPN - the television network that carries Monday Night Football, decided to drop Williams as part of the show. So, with Monday being the first time the Detroit Lions have appeared on Monday Night Football since 2001, there will be no Hank Williams. Bummer. Why does the Detroit game have to be the first without Williams? Oh well, Lions fans at least will have Barry Sanders back for the game. Sanders is narrating the intro for this classic rivalry game. So Lions Fans, are you ready for some football?
