London 2012: Let the Games begin
July 26, 2012 - Steve Murch
I love the Olympics, Winter or Summer. Maybe it's the sports lover in me, but I can't get enough of them.
I've already set up my online account and watched the U.S. women's soccer team play its first game. I'm sure you're not like me, but I plan on watching as much of the Games as is possible while still trying to have a life (I have some house painting to do during this stretch, so I'll be a little busy).
I fell in love with the Olympics with one memorable race. It was the men's 800 in 1972 with American Dave Wottle. I think it's more than coincidence that it happened the same year as the Israeli team members being killed. Even at a young age, I think I realized what was going on, and what the sports meant in comparison to that tragedy.
So to get everyone in the mood, here are a few photos to set the mood. It's amazing where the Olympic logo will wind up.
