Letters to the Editor

There’s nothing to support judgmental attitudes

November 13, 2009

First off, I’d like to extend thanks to Gilbert Potter and Earl Elowsky for their responses to my letter. I did not, however, appreciate the sarcasm and “we don’t like your kind around here” attitude expressed by one in particular, although it was expected when trying to simply state an opinion, as we are all entitled to without wrongful discrimination or judging. I would first like to openly state that I am not a socialist, nor fascist, Democrat, etc. I am an Independent who leans wherever I feel is best. Secondly, may I point out that Eisenhower got us into Korea, and though it has since faded from our realization, that conflict is still separated by nothing but a DMZ (unlike Vietnam)? More money was spent in Vietnam and, as of 2:28 p.m. on 10/31/09, $926,571,550,332 has been spent on Iraq and Afghanistan combined. Why doesn’t anyone run on the Republican ticket in Detroit? Frankly, from my perspective, the GOP has lost touch with Detroit’s citizens and their needs.
