Letters to the Editor

Anderson the right person to help our city

POSTED: October 23, 2009

Every day I watch the news and read the newspaper and see more and more bad news. We have rising national debt, a budget disaster in Lansing and growing financial problems here in Alpena. As we approach Election Day, the city of Alpena has to make a choice. Are we going to continue to continue to continue the same policies that have brought us to this situation, or are we ready for a change? I believe that the time has come to elect a forward thinking person to the Alpena City Council. After researching all of the candidates and learning as much as I can, I feel that Richard Anderson is the only logical choice. Rich is committed to bringing some financial sanity back to Alpena. He will work to reduce spending and make sure that we are not throwing our money into projects that won't bring jobs to Alpena. It is time for us to make a change in our city government and I believe that Richard Anderson will bring that change. On November 3, vote for Richard Anderson.

Larry Benaske

If Anderson...whom I have no idea who he is...is supposed to bring so much change to our community, why does he not write a letter to the editor himself and answer some of the most pressing questions that face us today? To be honest, they all say they are well informed, educated, pro-business, and willing to make hard decisions. This tells us nothing. It's generac political banter. What I want to hear is his battle plan! Step by step!

I see! It's OK because George Herbert Walker Bush did it. BO ran on the premise that the Patriot Act was a big mistake and that he would get rid of it. But no, he's keeping it. Every one of these thieves work for themselves. Government always looks out for government first. Jaxspp, once you realize this you will come to loathe them all. Oh...the stimulus went to the top 6 companies in the US. I thought BO was against big business. Now we find they won't pay us back! Wake up already!

Barack Hussein Obama is taking our money? Besides the childish use of his middle name, has there been any tax increases? Seems like he is taking the same money W took. Not only that, there are tax CUTS in the stimulus plan, the opposite of taking our money, isn't it?

Name five things he would do differently. Name one thing he would promote to make winter activities (snowmobilers) bring money to downtown businesses. Would new latrines at starlight be a priority build?

Richard Anderson would bring a breath of fresh air to the Alpena City Council. He is well informed, properly educated, pro-business and willing to make the hard decisions needed to stop the down hill slide of the city.

MmmmHmmm! Barack Hussein Obama brought change too. He's taking our money...and our change. You gotta do better than that Larry. No offense of course.
