LINCOLN - The Alcona County Board of Road Commissioners tied up loose ends on some of its ongoing projects and committed to new ones during its regular meeting on Wednesday, though Managing Director Jesse Campbell was unable to attend.
Tessmer Contracting and Excavating of Ossineke recently completed work on the road commission's salt storage facility for $22,457, though the board decided to call the contractor back for a few touch-ups.
"There was still some plywood sheeting that needed to be secured underneath, there was still some nails that needed to be picked up, and the cauking we didn't think was up to snuff," Administrative Assistant Marlena MacNeill said.
That work was part of the bid and therefore did not cost extra. The board had agreed to pay $20,000 up front and will pay the remaining $2,457 upon satisfactory completion and final inspection of the work, and the Michigan Department of Transportation will reimburse the road commission for 65 percent of the total cost, as MDOT shares use of the facility.
