The Boltonfest parade heads through Bolton Saturday afternoon, drawing a crowd to watch as tractors, wagons, horses and more moved through the small Maple Ridge Township hamlet. The parade is part of a celebration of local volunteers and a way to bring everyone together, said Jan Leary, owner of New Bolton Inn and festival oragnizer. She and others started Boltonfest six years ago, on the namesake community’s 125th birthday. Along with a steak dinner at New Bolton Inn and softball game Sunday between Maple Ridge Township and Posen fire departments in nearby Cathro, the three-day event included an auction to raise money for the Maple Ridge Township Fire Department Auxiliary. The money will go toward new equipment purchases for the department, said CJ Hoppe, auxiliary member.
