Alpena has a beautiful new river and lake

November 8, 2012
The Alpena News

God Bless America ... We are so fortunate to live where we live. Northeastern Michigan is an untapped paradise. So many of us take it for granted. The more we look, the more jewels of beauty we discover. Recently somebody cared enough to polish another of Alpena's diamonds.

For years people have driven along US-23 to view the shores of Lake Huron. When they reached Alpena the beautiful Thunder Bay River at Washington Park glistened in peoples eyes. Now that the landscaping along Johnson Street has brought to public view, a diamond that was in the rough, beautiful Lake Besser and a fantastic view of the Thunder Bay River and its shores. When the sun is setting on Lake Besser it creates a heavenly view that will draw viewers from far and near to enjoy this beautiful creation. Take a stroll on the walking path along the river and around Alpena, and feel blessed to live where we live, Alpena and Northeastern Michigan, an untapped paradise. I commend the person responsible for allowing us to view a beauty that was a hidden treasure.
