Hold officials accountable for malfeasance

November 16, 2012
The Alpena News

The generally accepted definition of the word malfeasance is: Wrongdoing or misconduct especially by a public official. (Google: malfeasance - definition)

Many members of Congress are guilty of malfeasance due to the way they let our economy get into such a mess and which will prove very costly to our country and its taxpayers. Now many of the 'lame ducks' - apparently willing to let the economy go over the impending fiscal cliff - are trying to delay any congressional action for the new congress and its newly-elected members to handle. The time to act is now, not months from now.

If there is a way politicians can be held accountable for such misconduct, they should be. The present situation is also indicative of the need for immediate review of how the Congress of the United States is supposed to function ... First for the people, not political interest groups.
