CHEBOYGAN-After a tough loss to the Sault on Tuesday, the Alpena girls changed up their play against Cheboygan on Thursday.
Unfortunately, it wasn't enough as they ended up losing 45-39.
Head coach Jenny Poli was pleased with her girls' efforts.
"After our loss against the Soo, we heavily reduced turn overs for this game and changed up our offense and defense. It gave a different look to our game and our improved score shows that," she said.
Alpena lead at the end of the first quarter 10-8. Cheboygan took the lead at half with a score of 20-19.
The end of the third quarter saw Alpena trailing by only three at 31-28. However, Cheboygan stretched their lead to six by the end of the game to win.
Leading scorers for the Wildcats included Christina Follien with 22 points and Lizzy Trelfa with six points.
The JV also lost against Cheboygan 34-23. The top scorers for Alpena were Morgan Allen with nine points and six steals.
