I wanted to express how touched I was that so many people were able to attend the vigil last Tuesday for the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary. It was wonderful to see citizens of Alpena, First Responders of Alpena and Local Government out there, to show their support. The prayer circle was led beautifully by Rev. Bruce Michaud, and I don't think that the weather could have been any better. The response and support by local media was also very heart-warming. One huge advantage to living in a small town is that we are all willing to come together when needed. Even though the tragedy didn't happen here, we supported those who were affected. We also managed to raise $365. It feels good to be surrounded by so many wonderful people, and your generosity will be felt by the victims of Sandy Hook.
