POSEN-The Posen boys basketball team hosted Hale on Thursday in a 64-53 loss that saw the Vikings leading in the first half.
Posen head coach Steve Hentkowski commented on his team's second-half play.
"We had a really poor second half, especially in the third quarter. Hale is a great team and we have to be ready to play against teams of that caliber if we want to continue to win," he said.
The first quarter ended with a 19-15 lead by Hale but Posen outscored them 14-9 in the second quarter to take a 29-26 lead.
The third quarter saw Posen score only nine points to Hale's 20, giving Hale the chance to take a 46-38 lead. Posen produced 15 points to Hale's 18 in the fourth quarter to lose 64-53.
Top scorers for Posen included Nick Hincka with 22 points, Travis Sharpe with 12 and Warren Beach with 11. Hale's top scorers included Italo Cicopti with 18 points, Trey Focks with 17 and Dan Katteman with 14.
Posen's loss puts the Vikings at 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the North Star League. They travel to Atlanta on Monday.
Posen's JV won earlier in the night.
FAIRVIEW-The Fairview boys basketball team opened 2013 with a win, holding off Atlanta in a 52-51 victory on Thursday.
Hudson Szubelak led the Eagles (2-3) with 16 points and was one of four Fairview players in double figures. David Haskin had 14 points and Kasson Willobee and Austin Handrich each added 11.
Jake Chambers led the Huskies with 22 points.
Atlanta outscored Fairview 18-4 in the first quarter, but only held a four-point lead at the half, 28-24.
Fairview plays at Hillman on Monday.
