Neiman’s lending a helping hand

January 13, 2013
The Alpena News

Again this year, Neiman's Family Market employees reached out to lend a helping hand through the United Way of Northeast Michigan. Left to right, Tom Julian, April Barnes, Henry Dean and Nic Wiser hand over a check for $6,442 to Germaine Stoppa, director of the United Way. The amount represents employee donations made for the 2012-13 campaign which is led by Terry and Luciana King. The company will add to this figure bringing the total to $7,000. "All I can say is thank you, thank you thank you", commented Stoppa. "The support we receive, year after year, from Neiman's helps the United Way make a difference in the lives of people in Alpena, Alcona and Montmorency counties." Donations to the United Way will help support 14 human care agencies with vital programs that serve people in Northeast Michigan. This year's goal is $225,000 and is currently at $169,375 or 75 percent of the goal. The United Way is still accepting donations in an effort to attain the $225,000 goal. If you want to help with a donation contact the United Way at 354-2221 or stop by its office at 701 Woodward Avenue (upstairs of the APlex).
