EAST LANSING-The Alpena Community College Cross Country team proved once again that hard work pays off.
On Friday, the Lumberjacks traveled to Michigan State Spartan Invitational and all thirteen runners set season personal bests.
Sophomores Andrew Sumerix (31:16), and Kyle Urban (35:38) ran career bests in the 8K, while Katie Brownell (31:44) ran a career best in the 6K.

"I'm impressed at the work that this team has put in. After our first meet last season, I gave them the day off from practice. This year after our first meet, we ran fifteen miles and no one batted an eye; that's the culture we are building here." ACC coach Mark Jacobs said.
Leading the way for the Lumberjacks was Chad Zagacki (27:39) followed by Travis LaCross (28:07), Paul Wilbert (28:23), Jon Fitch (28:24), Jake Spaulding (29:53), Brandon Gibson (29:56),Brent Heberling (30:12), Luke Spaulding (30:40), Zane Forintos (31:14), Sumerix, JD Niergarth (32:01) and Urban.
"Our tenth man yesterday would have been our number three man last year. We are really beginning to mature as a team; the fun has just begun," Jacobs said.
