History will be lost if courthouse torn down

October 30, 2013
The Alpena News

Voters in Presque Isle County will soon be going to the polls to decide whether or not to build a new courthouse in Rogers City. As part of the project, the old courthouse would be demolished. That courthouse has served us since 1883 and is the historically most significant building in the county. If the proposal for the new courthouse passes, it will undergo the same fate as the domed Presque Isle Bank, the Bertram building, Krueger Hardware, Rog Isle, old St. John's, Friederich Lumber Co., the old yellow school, and the Hoeft mansion. Think about it.
