CFNEM awards grants

In December, the Board of Trustees of the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan (CFNEM) approved the following grants:

1. Alpena Youth Center-awarded $2,726 from the Community Endowment Fund for the Alpena Childcare Summer Program.

2. Village of Lincoln/Friends of Flights of Imagination Playground-awarded $3,000 ($2,577 from the Community Endowment Fund and $423 from the Alcona County General Fund) for the Wood Fiber Surface project.

3. Onaway Area Schools-awarded $3,000 from the Ann M. Kuntz Fund for the Summer Camp Program.

4. Iron One Educational Foundation-awarded $2,939 from the Community Endowment Fund for a Smart Board for the New Career Center.

5. Onaway Area Fireman's Association-awarded $3,000 from the Huron Shores Health Fund for the Community Safe project.

6. Presque Isle District Library-awarded $1,068 from the Presque Isle County General Fund for the e-Smart Center Conference Tables.

7. NE MI Community Mental Health/Light of Hope Clubhouse-awarded $500 from the Community Endowment Fund for the Digital Cash Register.

8. Alpena Swim Club-awarded $500 from the Community Endowment Fund for New Fins for Younger Swimmers.

9. Huron Humane Society-awarded $644 from the Community Endowment Fund for the Accounting Assistance Project.

10. Good Shepherd Evangelical/Grief Share Ministries-awarded $500 from the Community Endowment Fund for a TV and bracket.

11. NE MI Community Partnership-awarded $1,500 from the Community Endowment Fund for the Child Welfare Trauma Training.

12. 2-1-1 Northeast Michigan-awarded $2,812 from the Community Endowment Fund for the Courage to Call: Military, Veterans, & Family Access project.

13. NE MI Community Partnership-awarded $2,000 from the Community Endowment Fund for the Pain Management Training for Human Service Professionals project.

14. NEMROC-awarded $3,000 from the Community Endowment Fund for the Vocational Opportunities project.

15. Huron Pines-awarded $3,000 ($1,500 from the Community Endowment Fund and $1,500 from the Mr. and Mrs. O.B. Eustis Memorial Fund) for the Huron Pines AmeriCorps Program.

16. Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan-awarded $3,000 from the Community Endowment Fund for Roof Repairs over the Collection Storage Area.

17. NE MI Community Service Agency-awarded $3,000 from the Community Endowment Fund for the Knowledge is Progress Project.

The Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan (CFNEM), established in 1974, awards nearly $100,000 each year through its Common Grant Application. For granting purposes, the Community Endowment Fund consists of the General Endowment Fund, Genite Family Fund, Chuck and Kathy Ingle Fund, Lappan Fund, Neva Nelson Memorial Fund, Panel Processing Endowment Fund, Reitz Family Fund, Stevens Fund, Weinkauf Fund, and the Wilson Family Fund.

Additional funding through the Common Grant Application is also available from the following funds: Alcona County General Fund, Mr. and Mrs. O.B. Eustis Memorial Fund, Huron Shores Health Fund, Ann M. Kuntz Fund, Montmorency County General Fund, Presque Isle County General Fund, and Wayne Wire Cloth Fund.
