HILLMAN - Hillman Village Manager Dave Post updated the Village Council on the progress of the low power FM station application at the council meeting Tuesday night.
"We're now in the singleton category," Post said. "That means we are the only one who applied in our area asking for a certain frequency. We're still waiting to find out more information."
Post said the frequency applied for was 103.5 FM, and there are plans to write for a 501c3 nonprofit status for the station if the license is approved.
The council also set a date to go through its budget and make any changes to departments based on the requests of the trustees. Council members will be going through each portion of the budget and making sure it is in order for the upcoming year on Feb. 18 at 5:30 p.m.
In other business:
a complaint about plowing issues and scraping streets was addressed, noting that when the weather is as cold as it has been, scraping the streets proves difficult because they can be frozen.
category 2 of the Economic Vitality Incentive Program was sent to the State of Michigan.
members discussed the possibility of digital call training centers in northeastern Michigan being established with the help of the Northeast Michigan Council of Governments.
the next council meeting will be Feb. 4, at 7 p.m.
