POSEN-The Posen girls basketball team capped another perfect regular season on Saturday, topping Fairview 63-30 at Posen High School.
The win gives Posen (20-0, 11-0 NSL) it's second straight undefeated regular season.
"We didn't think it was possible and it's just a testament to a hardworking group of kids," Posen coach Karl Momrik said.
Korynn Hincka paced Posen with 33 points and Cami LaTulip added eight points.
Posen will play Hillman tonight in a Class D district quarterfinal in Wolverine. The game will start 30 minutes after the Wolverine-Vanderbilt game which starts at 6 p.m.
Rogers City qualifies 2 teams for state finals
TRAVERSE CITY-The Rogers City High School bowling teams made it a clean sweep on Friday as both the boys and girls teams won their respective Division 4 regionals on Friday in Traverse City.
The Rogers City boys team finished first a score of 3,751, ahead of L'Anse (3,392) and Elk Rapids (3,173).
Sophomores Corey Grulke and Bailey Budnik and junior Alex Darga qualified for the individual state finals as well.
Budnik is the returning state champion in Division 4.
The Division 4 finals will be held starting on Thursday at M-66 Bowl in Battle Creek.
The Rogers City girls team topped the field in its regional, finishing with a score of 3,208, ahead of Ishpeming Westwood (2,962) and Maple City Glen Lake (2,731).
Seniors Nicole Bannasch, Jess Butera, junior Rebecca Bannasch and sophomore Alana Wirgau all qualified for the individual state finals.
In its first year of competition, the Alcona boys team finished seventh at the regional with a score of 2,978. Junior Leigh Gibson was the last individual state qualifier, finishing 10th.
