DETROIT (AP) — A suspect in a series of indecent exposure cases involving Detroit schoolgirls has been ordered to stand trial.
The Detroit News reports (http://bit.ly/1uCAIV9 ) the decision came Tuesday following a preliminary hearing for Mario R. James at which seven girls testified. The 40-year-old is charged with accosting children for immoral purposes and indecent exposure.
The girls who testified are from middle schools on the city's west side. They told the court James approached them on the way to school and exposed himself.
In court, defense lawyer Scott Wyatt raised questions about whether one of the girls identified the incorrect person based on James' appearance.
James was originally charged in separate cases stretching from March to May, but they're being combined. Another witness is expected to testify during a hearing Friday.
