Alayna Denae Nugent, daughter of Brad and Laurie Nugent of Lachine, and granddaughter of Dean and Beverly Nugent of Lachine, and the late Robert and Barbara Klein of Hillman, graduated summa cum laude with a GPA of 4.0 in April of 2022 from University of Michigan Rackham School of Graduate Studies with a Master of Arts in Educational Studies.

Nugent currently teaches seventh grade World Studies and advises the Northeast Michigan Youth Advisory Council at Thunder Bay Junior High School in Alpena.
