Alpena group to welcome Kristin Rossi of Michigan Parkinson Foundation
ALPENA — The Alpena Area Parkinson’s Support Group will welcome Kristin Rossi of the Michigan Parkinson Foundation at 1 p.m. on Monday at First United Methodist Church, 167 S. Ripley Blvd., Alpena. All are welcome to attend.
Rossi is the Chief Executive Officer of the Michigan Parkinson Foundation. Rossi has spent the last 16 years in nonprofit leadership. She earned her Master of Public Administration from Western Michigan University.
Prior to taking the helm at the Michigan Parkinson Foundation., Rossi worked for many years at the Alzheimer’s Association. There she developed a passion for learning about neurodegenerative diseases — the effect they have on families, and the importance of ensuring that families and caregivers connect with community resources and support so that no one feels isolated or alone.
Rossi believes that one of the main responsibilities of the MPF is to provide a connection point for socialization in every community throughout Michigan–that’s why she believes support groups are so pivotal. Programs and services at MPF truly provide an opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives. Rossi has dedicated her career to making an impact in this arena.
In her free time, Rossi enjoys reading, all things Italian, traveling, and spending as much time as possible with her husband and two small children.
