Trinity soup and bread sale Friday, Saturday

ALPENA — Trinity Episcopal Church women are holding a homemade soup and bread sale on Friday and Saturday, featuring Miss Maggie’s Nearly Famous Vegetable Soup.

Preorders for soup at $10 a quart and a small loaf of bread at $3 can be made by calling Trinity Episcopal Church at 989-356-0576 Pick-up is available from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, March 15, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 16. Proceeds go to church outreach.

Feeding Kids Ministry craft bazaar Saturday

ALPENA — Feeding Kids Ministry presents a spring craft bazaar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 500 S. Brooke St., Alpena.

The entrance fee is $1 per person, and re-entry is allowed. All profits go to Feeding Kids Ministry, a local mission that provides food to children in need within our community.

There will be vendors, a raffle, a bake sale, a plant sale, a children’s craft, and food available.Feeding Kids Ministry is a nonprofit organization affiliated with Resurrection Lutheran Church. Feeding Kids Ministry fulfills its mission with the help of volunteers from local organizations.

Euchre tournament Sunday to benefit Plaza Pool

ALPENA — Friends of Plaza Pool will host a euchre tournament fundraiser on Sunday at the APlex. Doors open at noon, and play starts at 1 p.m. at 701 Woodward Ave., Alpena. The cost is $20 per person. There will be food, a cash bar, a 50/50 drawing, door prizes, and a $1 pool for the person with the high game.

Hillman VFW held March meeting

HILLMAN — Hillman VFW Post 2356 held its regular meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, with 15 members present.

An update of the bylaws was approved. Nominations for new officers were made. There will be a second new nomination next month. New officers will be elected at the May meeting.

The second Monday of each month, there will be a V-J Day meeting at 6 p.m. at the VFW Post. Included will be an attempt at having a carnival at the same time.

The Friday Night Fish Fry is running well but it is a little slow. They are trying to hold back a price increase, as costs keep going up.

A flag retirement ceremony will be held at noon on Flag Day, June 15, at the Atlanta Eagles #4077.

The Montmorency County Veterans Affairs representative can be reached by calling 989-785-8043.

The post sells polyester 3-foot-by-5-foot American flags that are made in the United States, for $30. There is an drop box for old flags located outside the VFW front door.

Medical supplies are available for loan by calling Wayne at 989-255-4412 or Marv at 989-255-2072. Anyone who has medical items that are no longer needed is asked to call so they can continually upgrade.

The next regular meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 4.

Alpena Duplicate Bridge Club results announced

ALPENA — Alpena Duplicate Bridge Club winners have been announced for this week.

Audrey Stevens and Linda Clegg tied with Marge French and Marcy Sherman for first place. The team of Eve Phillips and Dale Middleditch came in second, followed by Deanna Brege and Gayle Nowak in third.
