ALPENA — Bob and Sue Donakowski, of Alpena, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today.

Bob Donakowski and Sue Taratuta were married on Oct. 26, 1974, at St. Anne Catholic Church in Alpena.

Bob retired from the Michigan Air National Guard, and is currently working for the State of Michigan at the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center. Sue retired from MyMichigan Medical Center.

The couple has two children, Rob Donakowski and Sarah Whiteside, a granddaughter, Maria, and a bonus grandson, Leo.

They are celebrating their anniversary with mass and a blessing by Bishop Jeffrey J. Walsh at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Gaylord.
