Salvation Army Share the Warmth distribution days Oct. 22-23

ALPENA — The Salvation Army has provided coats for families for many years. During those years, they have distributed hundreds of pieces of winterwear to keep youth and adults warm. Last year, the Salvation Army served over 260 people with over 700 items. This year, they are expecting an increase due to increased needs and financial concerns.

The Salvation Army’s 2024 distribution days are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the church building across from the office. No items are needed for proof of need. Items will be distributed as supplies last, so come early. The Salvation Army hope to serve all, but it depends on donations.

Donations continue to be accepted. Children’s coats, gloves, and scarfs are still needed. New or clean gently used items are accepted. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Monetary donations are accepted via mail or in person at The Salvation Army Corps Community Center at 722 N. 2nd Ave., Alpena, MI 49707. You can also donate online at salmich.org/alpena or by calling Major Prezza Morrison at 989-358-2769, ext. 12.
