LWV Lunch Bunch Friday

ALPENA — The Northeast Michigan League of Women Voters will hold a Lunch Bunch gathering at noon on Friday, at Mango’s restaurant in downtown Alpena. All LWVNEM members are welcome and please feel free to bring a friend. The public is invited.

Bridge results announced

ALPENA — Alpena Duplicate Bridge Club results have been announced for this week. Marge French and Gordon Bennett placed first, followed by a tie for second between the teams of Deanna Brege and Linda Clegg and Beverley Rousseau and Marcy Sherman. Carol Beatty and Dale Middleditch came in third place.

Hillman VFW held meeting

HILLMAN — Hillman VFW Post 2356 held its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. on Oct. 3, with 10 members present. A lot of time was spent on scheduling VFW members for honor guard and other events requiring the raising of the flag, such as funerals, parades, and sporting events. Nov. 11 is Veterans Day.

The second Monday of the month, V-J Day meetings will continue to be held at 6 p.m. V-J Day will be on Aug. 9, 2025.

The post sells American flags, made in the U.S., for $30. There is an old flag drop box outside their front door as well.

The next regular meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7.
