Santa in Rogers City Saturday

ASO Holiday Serenade Sunday
HUBBARD LAKE — The Alpena Symphony Orchestra has prepared a musical treat for the community titled Holiday Serenade, which will be performed at 4 p.m. on Sunday at Hope Lutheran Church, 5462 W. Nicholson Hill Road, Hubbard Lake.
A variety of music performed by several musical ensembles and soloists from the ASO will provide a note of festivity to your holiday season. There is no charge for attending this event. Donations are appreciated if you desire to contribute to the orchestra, which is a nonprofit organization. The community is invited to come and enjoy this musical celebration.
Alpena VFW Auxiliary held December meeting
ALPENA — The Auxiliary to VFW Post 2496 was presided over by President Patrick on Dec.10, with 21 members present.
Before the meeting, members enjoyed a dinner hosted by the Auxiliary for all attending the meeting and their guests. The Auxiliary joined the Post for the Voice of Democracy winners presentation and scholarship award.
It was announced that five members attended the Pearl Harbor Day ceremony. The charter was draped in memory of Dixie Weiler, Joe Latier, and Michael Stone.
Judi Brown stated that it cost approximately $360 and takes around 50 hours of labor to complete a Quilt of Valor and she has presented eight to 10 since coming to Alpena.
Darryl thanked those installing the two new building doors and Home Depot for donating them.
The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Jan. 14.
Bridge results announced
ALPENA — Alpena Duplicate Bridge Club winners have been announced for this week.
Loretta Reynolds and Jackie Kennedy came in first place, followed by Marge French and Dale Middleditch in second place, and Eve Phillips and Linda Ferguson in third place.

Aid by the Dozen held Christmas party
ALPENA — Monday, Dec. 9 was the date chosen by Lori Zeller to host the Aid by the Dozen Christmas party at her country home.
After dinner, Catherine Murphy opened the meeting. Each member made a donation to Meijer, which was tripled.
The fun began when secret pals were revealed and another name chosen for next year.
Kim Mischley was welcomed as a new member.
The hostess gift was won by Tammy Daleski, and Geri Skiba won a beautiful tin filled with Christmas cookies and candy, provided by Kaye Ross.
Geri Skiba will host the next meeting at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at the 19th Hole.
