MyMichigan Health Foundation offering over $300K in health care scholarships

MIDLAND — The MyMichigan Health Foundation has announced the opening of applications for its 2025-2026 scholarship season. With more than 40 scholarships available, the Foundation aims to support students pursuing careers in health care, ranging from undergraduate to postgraduate education. This year, more than $300,000 in scholarships will be awarded to eligible applicants.

“We are thrilled to invest in the future of health care by supporting students within our service area,” said Denise O’Keefe, executive director of the MyMichigan Health Foundation. “These scholarships are designed to foster a robust pipeline of health care professionals who will serve our communities in the years to come.”

Applications are open now through April 1, with awards varying from single to multiple disbursements for the 2025-2026 academic year. Notable scholarships available include:

¯ Dr. David Rayfield Endowed Scholarship: Established in memory of Dr. Rayfield, this $2,400 scholarship supports nursing students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Michigan.

¯ Dr. Peter Aliferis Memorial Scholarship: A $1,000 scholarship for students advancing in clinical laboratory sciences or medical school who are living in Alpena, Alcona, Montmorency, or Presque Isle counties.

¯ Diane Postler-Slattery Memorial Nursing Scholarship: Honors the legacy of MyMichigan Health’s former CEO by supporting aspiring nurses with a $2,000 scholarship.

¯ Bailey Scholarship: The Bernard F. and Melissa Anne Bailey Family Fund awards more than $200,000 annually based on merit to approximately 100 students in a variety of health care fields.

¯ Cinthia and Mauro Gregorio Endowed Scholarship: A $1,800 scholarship to support Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nursing Assistant, or Licensed Practice Nurse pursuing a degree in Michigan.

¯ Philip A. Harris Memorial Scholarship: Provides $1,000 scholarship for medical students who are relatives of MyMichigan Health employees or have completed clerkships within the organization.

¯ June and Gerald Kramer Memorial Education Scholarship: A $1,000 scholarship to support individuals living in Alpena, Alcona, Montmorency, or Presque Isle counties and seeking a nursing degree or other direct patient care occupations.

¯ MyMichigan Medical Center Clare Volunteer Scholarship: Two $500 scholarships for Medical Center Clare employees or their dependents attending Mid-Michigan College and pursuing a health care degree.

¯ MyMichigan Medical Center Gladwin Volunteer Scholarship: A $1,500 scholarship for a high school senior attending Beaverton High School, Gladwin High School, or Skeels Christian School who plans to pursue a health care degree.

¯ MyMichigan Medical Center Midland Volunteer Scholarship: A $2,000 scholarship for a Midland County resident pursuing a health care degree.

¯ MyMichigan Medical Centers in Saginaw, Standish and Tawas Scholarships: Multiple awards totaling more than $25,000 for Medical Center Saginaw, Standish and Tawas employees or their children, including 15 available scholarships opportunities, such as the Allyson Wilson Memorial Scholarship, Children’s Free Ward Association Health Care Scholarship, and Doris M. Jacques Volunteer Alliance Health Care Advancement Scholarship.

¯ Thelma Orr Memorial Scholarship: Two $1,500 scholarships for students living in Alpena, Alcona, Iosco, Montmorency, Oscoda, or Presque Isle counties and who are pursuing a health care degree at a Michigan university or college.

¯ Paul A. Poling Memorial Fund Scholarship: Two $2,500 scholarships for students living in Alger, Au Gres, Gladwin, Hale, Houghton Lake, Mio, Prescott, Roscommon, Rose City, St. Helen, Tawas, West Branch, or Whittemore who are pursuing a health care degree.

¯ Rick and Jan Reynolds Scholarship: A $5,000 scholarship for one Medical Center Midland Family Medicine Residency employee and two $5,000 scholarships for a MyMichigan Health cardiovascular service line employee seeking additional education.

¯ Dr. George Schaiberger, Sr., Dr. Howard VanOosten and Dr. Lloyd Wiegerink Memorial Scholarship: A $800 scholarship to a West Branch high school senior or Medical Center West Branch employee pursuing a health care degree.

¯ Dr. William Dery Endowed Scholarship: A $1,500 scholarship for a current faculty member or current resident physician of MyMichigan Midland Family Medicine Residency pursuing additional health care education.

¯ Tolfree Scholarship: A $500 scholarship for a health care student from Alger, Au Gres, Gladwin, Hale, Houghton Lake, Mio, Prescott, Roscommon, Rose City, St. Helen, Tawas, West Branch, or Whittemore
