‘Casablanca’ fundraiser raises over $5K for Alpena Childcare and Development Center

ALPENA — A fundraiser held Feb. 12 at Sanctuary Cinema in Alpena raised $5,052 for Alpena Childcare and Development Center. The event featured a screening of “Casablanca” as well as hors d’oeuvres, a special photo backdrop, and social time before the film.
The fundraiser was part of ACDC’s Capital Campaign to raise money for two more preschool classrooms, accommodating 50 more children. As of Feb. 14, ACDC is less than $70,000 away from matching the $200,000 for the Besser Foundation grant.
Coupon books featuring 32 coupons from area businesses are also available for $20, with all proceeds to ACDC’s Capital Campaign. Coupon books are available at The Alpena News, Cabin Creek Coffee, Shear Envy Salon, Robert Barrigar Agency — Farm Bureau Insurance, and Myers’ Fashions.
