The funds will be used to provide dinner to families attending the Family Fun Nights on Wednesday in Harrisville and Thursday in Alpena.

ALPENA — Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union recently made a $500 donation to the Northeast Michigan Family Resource Center’s Family Fun Nights happening on Wednesday in Harrisville, and Thursday in Alpena. The funds donated will go toward dinner for families attending the events.

Wednesday’s Family Fun Night will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Anne’s at 110 S. State St., Harrisville.

Thursday’s Family Fun Night will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at Alpena County Library.

The NEMI Family Resource Center, formerly the Child and Family Services of Northeast Michigan, facilitates our local foster program, and is a child welfare agency and advocate for the well-being of families and individuals in Northeast Michigan.

The programs that the NEMI Family Resource Center provides in our region include their adoption program, Compass North (an initiative that supports homeless youth ages 12 to 20), Healthy Families America Day One (a voluntary home-visiting program that serves all families), general foster care, and licensing to become a foster parent. It is through these programs that the resource center is able to address a variety of critical issues in our region, including child abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquency, family relationship breakdowns, youth homelessness, and more.
