Community Foundation awards over $162K in new grants

ALPENA — The Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan recently awarded a new round of community grants covering Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency, and Presque Isle counties. The CFNEM Board of Trustees recently approved 66 new grants totaling $162,142. Of that amount, $126,546 was awarded in Community Impact Grants, and $35,596 was awarded in grants from the Northeast Michigan Youth Advisory Council.

Community Impact Grants include:

¯ Alcona Community Schools — $1,500 for the Hometown Heroes Past and Present project.

¯ Alcona County — $1,358 for the Library Parade Brigade project.

¯ Alcona County Commission on Aging — $1,276 for the Community Care and Support Fund project.

¯ Alcona Youth Baseball and Softball — $1,200 for the Gear for our Softball Catchers project.

¯ Alpena Blues Coalition — $1,000 for the 2025 Alpena Blues Festival project.

¯ Alpena Childcare and Development Center — $1,800 for the Recliners for the Dreamers Room project.

¯ Alpena Gymnastics — $1,550 for Aerial Silks project.

¯ Alpena Street Performers — $500 for the Downtown Street Performers Series project.

¯ Alpena Swim Club DBA Thunder Bay Schooners — $1,800 for the Equipment Storage Cart project.

¯ Ana’s Treasures — $3,500 for the Ana’s 2025 Backpack Program project.

¯ Boys and Girls Club of Alpena — $3,500 for the SMART Moves — Lifestyle Enrichment project.

¯ Brush Creek Mill — $5,000 for the Technology Support for Services project.

¯ Catholic Central Athletic Assoc. — $500 for the Avenue of Flags project.

¯ Catholic Human Services — $5,000 for the Overdose Prevention and Recovery Supports project.

¯ COOR/Iosco Great Start Collaborative — $3,000 for the Float Safe project.

¯ Friends of the Alpena Courts — $5,000 for the Bay View Reconstruction project.

¯ Friends of the Harrisville Train Depot — $2,000 for the Historic Harrisville Train Depot Roof Stabilization project.

¯ Friends Together — $5,000 for the Care and Comfort Boutique Stock project.

¯ Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore — $3,426 for the Empowering Girl Scouts in Alpena Area — Supporting New Troops project.

¯ Harrisville United Methodist Church — $5,000 for the Feeding Alcona County Families project.

¯ HeadWaters Land Conservancy — $2,175 for the Aerial Monitoring for Conservation project.

¯ Hillman Community Schools — $5,000 for the Hillman Band Chair and Music Stand Purchase project.

¯ Hubbard Lake Baptist/Bible Church — $3,500 for the Feeding the Hungry project.

¯ Huron Artist Residency Collaboration — $2,000 for the ACS Sculpture Trail project.

¯ Millen Township of Alcona County — $3,000 for the Radar Speed Sign Trask Lake Road project.

¯ New Beginnings Ministries — $5,000 for the Feeding the Community in Need project.

¯ Northeast Michigan Center for Fine Arts (Art in the Loft) — $5,000 for the Food As Fuel 101 project.

¯ Northeast Michigan Community Partnership — $4,623 for the Expanding Care Options in Northeast Michigan — Emotional Complex Clearing project.

¯ Northeast Michigan Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative — $2,680 for the EcoCareers Expo project.

¯ Northeast Michigan TNR — $1,500 for the Community Cats Retirement Plan project.

¯ Pegasus Springs Therapeutic Riding Center — awarded $1,500 for the Project Next Step / Capacity Building for Mental Health Services project.

¯ Posen Area Fire and Rescue — $5,000 for the Posen Area Fire and Rescue Drone project.

¯ Posen Consolidated Schools — $2,500 for the New Baseball Field Irrigation System project.

¯ PoWeR! Book Bags — $2,058 for the Alpena Little Learners at Early Head Start project.

¯ Presbyterian Villages of Michigan Foundation — $1,000 for the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) in Northeast Michigan project.

¯ Presque Isle County Historical Museum — $4,000 for the Calcite Collection Preservation project.

¯ Presque Isle District Library — $1,000 for the Jackie Krawczak Professional Development Day Workshops project.

¯ Presque Isle District Library — $5,000 for the Northeast Exposure Features Michigan Author and Performing Artists project.

¯ Quirky Quilters Quilt Guild — $600 for the Project Quirky Quilters Quilt Guild project.

¯ Rogers City Main Street DDA — $5,000 for the I Love Rogers City Metal Statue project.

¯ Second Chance Animal Shelter — $2,000 for the Getting Your Pet Fixed is a SNAP (Spay Neuter Assistance Program) project.

¯ St. John Lutheran School — $5,000 for the “Let’s Play! 2025” project.

¯ the Poetics Lab — $3,500 for the Pride, Paddle and Poetry project.

¯ WCMU Public Media — $1,000 for the WCMU Michigan News Group Summer Internship with The Alpena News project.

The next opportunities for submitting grant applications are through the Northeast Michigan Women’s Giving Circle, with a grant deadline of July 1, and Community Impact Grants, with a July 15 deadline. Applications are available at cfnem.org.
