Corned-beef dinner Thursday at Spratt Church

LACHINE — A corned-beef dinner will be available for the public to enjoy from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Spratt United Methodist Church, presented by church members.

The cost is $15 per person, at the church, 7440 M-65 South in Lachine (one mile south of Werth Road).

Delta Kappa Gamma Future Educator Scholarship applications being accepted

ALPENA — The Alpha Xi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is accepting applications for the Future Educator Scholarship, a $1,000 scholarship awarded to a student enrolled in a program leading to a degree in education.

The application deadline is April 1.

Eligible individuals must be a full-time or part-time student who is eligible or has previously earned a high school diploma from a school in Alpena, Montmorency, or Presque Isle counties. They must also be a student who will be enrolling in or is enrolled in college with a junior or senior status, and be enrolled in a program leading to a degree in education. Eligible individuals must have a minimum grade-point-average of 3.0.

Application requirements include a completed application, a copy of the applicant’s high school or college transcript, verification of current enrollment in a program leading to a degree in education, and two letters of recommendation from people not related to the applicant.

Euchre tournament fundraiser Sunday for Plaza Pool

ALPENA — The Friends of Plaza Pool are hosting a euchre tournament fundraiser on Sunday at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 1960 M-32, Alpena.

Doors open at noon, and play starts at 1 p.m. The cost is $20 per person, and you must be 18 or older to play. Cash prizes will be awarded (to be determined by the number of participants).

There will be a $1 entry for high game, food, a 50/50 drawing, door prizes, and a cash bar.

Proceeds will benefit the Alpena Plaza Pool.
