ALPENA — Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union (AAACU) recently donated $300 to the Alpena Lions Club.

The mission of the Alpena Lions Club is to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace, and promote international understanding through Lions Clubs.

Internationally, Lions Clubs have more volunteers in more places than any other service organization in the world.

Some of the Alpena Lions Club’s strategic objectives include reducing the prevalence of diabetes and improving the quality of life for those with diabetes diagnoses, preventing avoidable blindness and improving quality of life for those who are visually impaired, helping those affected by childhood cancer survive and thrive, protecting and restoring our environment sustainably to improve the well-being of all communities, and ensuring that all community members have access to nutritious foods.
