Hillman VFW Post 2356 meeting held
HILLMAN — A make-up meeting of the Hillman VFW Post 2356 was held at 6 p.m. on April 10, with 12 members present.
Last month, Marv Hunt of Hillman passed away. He was not a veteran but maintained and helped with the delivery of the Hillman VFW’s medical supplies for years. He has helped a lot of people and will be missed by many.
The group addressed fundraising for this year’s V-J Day celebration, set for Aug. 9. They hope to expand the weekend with extended events and a larger fireworks display. V-J Day meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at the VFW Post. The public is welcome.
Friday night fish fry is still 4 to 7 p.m. each week at the VFW Post.
Members have heard many complaints about reaching the current County Veterans Affairs representatives. For assistance, call the Hillman VFW veterans affairs officer, Bruce Brown, at 989-464-1373. He is extremely knowledgeable and wants to help any veterans in need.
The Post sells polyester 3-foot by 5-foot American Flags for $30, made in the U.S. There is also drop box for old flags outside the front door of the VFW, 441 State St.
Medical supplies are available for loan. Call Wayne at 989-255-4412. If you have unneeded medical items, please call. For Post Hall rentals, call Bob Hunt at 989-657-1162.
The next regular meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, with the final nomination of officers and the final election. All members are encouraged to attend.
