Alcona library hosting dance, gardening programs Saturday
HARRISVILLE — Alcona County Library is offering a fun dance class and a gardening workshop on Saturday.
Dance Through the Decades — For a Great Cause! Get ready to tap your toes and sing along as we take a joyful trip through the hits of the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Join instructor Jan Klein for a fun seated dance class set to the music we all know and love. This upbeat session is designed for all abilities — everyone is welcome to move, groove, and enjoy.
This program will be held at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library, 312 W. Main St.
Admission is free, but donations are appreciated to support the animals at Alcona Humane Society. Requested items include Purina Kitten or Cat Chow, disinfecting bleach, soft dog treats or pig ears, trash bags, or gift cards.

Then, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, the library is hosting a Low-Maintenance Container Garden Workshop.
Discover how to create a low-maintenance container garden at a free workshop presented by Spruce Field of Dreams. Learn tips and techniques for easy-care gardening, perfect for porches, patios, or small spaces.
All participants will receive free lettuce seeds to help get their gardens growing.

Used book sale Friday in hospital lobby
ALPENA — MyMichigan Medical Center Volunteers will host a used book sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in the hospital lobby. The sale is open to the public.
Good Morning Alpena set for May 2
ALPENA — Join the Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce for the next Good Morning Alpena breakfast on Friday, May 2 and hear from the team at the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary.
Breakfast starts at 7 a.m., followed by the program at 7:30 a.m. at Alpena Senior Citizens Center, 501 River St., Alpena.
The cost is $12 per person, and advanced registration is required to info@alpenachamber.com, or 989-354-4181.
