Thunder Bay Arts receives $13K grant from Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs
Thunder Bay Arts has been awarded a grant of $13,750 from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.
The grant was awarded through the MCACA peer review process.
Organizations receiving a MCACA grant award are required to match those funds with other public and private dollars. Local support of Thunder Bay Arts includes the Besser Foundation, the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan and the First Federal Legacy Foundation.
Thunder Bay Arts is proud to be among Michigan’s longest continually-operating regional arts councils, celebrating its 50th year anniversary this season. With this grant, Thunder Bay Arts can continue its offerings including Art on the Bay fine arts and crafts show and the Thunder Bay Arts Gallery in downtown Alpena. Educational arts programs for area youth also remain important as are the partnerships with other local and regional arts organizations to promote, provide and enrich public awareness of the arts.
The MCACA peer review process allows for each grant application to be competitively considered by a panel of in-state and out-of-state arts and culture professionals. This ensures the taxpayers, who support this project through legislative appropriations, and all other visitors or residents in Michigan will have access to the highest quality arts and cultural experiences.
