ALPENA – Hundreds of community members came out to the Alpena VFW Hall on Saturday to support Mya Hall, a 13-year-old diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.
Hall, of Alpena, was diagnosed just a few days after Christmas and sent right to Mott Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She will be staying there undergoing aggressive treatment for the next six months. She will also need a bone marrow transplant.
She is the daughter of Jennifer Hall and Chad Hall.
Saturday’s event included a spaghetti dinner and many auctions and raffles.
Hall’s grandparents were amazed with the turnout and the community support at the event.
“I’m overwhelmed,” said Mark Lee, Mya’s grandpa. “I can’t believe it.”
“It’s awesome,” said Kerrie Lee, Mya’s grandma.
