ALPENA — The Alpena County Library has named a new director.
Debra Greenacre, current executive director of the Manistee County Library, will take over the Alpena library on June 15, the library said in a news release.
Greenacre has 20 years of experience as a librarian, 11 in a director capacity, according to the Alpena library.
“I am very pleased and excited with the hiring of Debra Greenacre as library Director,” Alpena library Board of Trustees President Joseph Garber said in a written statement. “Debra has all of the qualifications, experience, and skills needed to lead and manage our library. Debra has great vision and ideas to keep the library moving forward to provide quality programming and a collection that will meet the needs of all our patrons.”
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join the dedicated team at Alpena County George N. Fletcher Public Library as the library director,” Greenacre said in a written statement. “I look forward to moving to Alpena and connecting with the community.”
The library board hired human resources consultant Brian Mortimore, of Mortimore Consulting, to help with the search, which the library called “extensive and thorough.”
A public open house will be held for the community to welcome Greenacre “in the near future,” the library said.
