Alpena High boys golf team headed to state finals

Courtesy Photo For the first time ever, the Alpena High School boys golf team will compete in the state finals as a team, starting today at the Fortress in Frankenmuth. The tournament continues on Saturday. The Wildcats qualified after finished with a team score of 340 and third overall in their regional at Timber Ridge Golf Course last week. Coach Tate Skiba’s squad was led at regionals by sophomore Harrison Kaszubowski, who shot an 82, including 36 on the front nine. Gavin Hamp also shot an 82, giving Alpena two finishers in the top 10. Senior Anden Marceau carded an 87; senior Easton Schultz shot 89, and Junior Avery Spicer rounded out the scores with a 95.
