Wildcats runners set personal bests
Samantha Zolnierek had a career day at the Big North Conference Championships on Tuesday afternoon.
She not only broke the 20-minute barrier for the first time, but in doing so placed 13th overall, earning her second team All BNC Honors.
The girls, running without injured top runner Emma Dickins, stepped up big time, as seven girls had either career or season best performances.
The men’s team also had an All BNC second-teamer when John Korowski crossed the finish line in 10th place. The men, similarly running shorthanded, also had a slew of personal bests.
The men placed fifth in the meet, while the women’s team finished sixth.

ALPENA SWIM TEAM FALLS SHORT
On Tuesday, the Alpena High School girls swim team traveled to Garber High School and lost 48 to 120 to the Dukes.
Although the score is low, many personal best times were beaten and the team as a whole is strengthening, coach Jen Johnson said.
Leading scorers for the Wildcats include junior Sarah Rabbideau, sophomore Ava Stevens, and freshmen Olivia Sherwood and Lizzie Rabbideau.
The last home meet happens at 5 p.m. Tuesday against Alma High School.
