1 hospitalized, home destroyed after fire
ALPENA TOWNSHIP — One of three occupants of a home on the 100 block of Highland Road was transported to MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena for treatment following a structure fire there Sunday, according to Alpena Township Fire Chief Mark Hansen.
The Alpena Township Fire Department arrived on the scene at 11:07 p.m. and remained until around 4 a.m., with firefighters from the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center and Maple Ridge Township, troopers from the Michigan State Police, and deputies from the Alpena County Sheriff’s Department providing assistance.
Hansen reports that the house will most likely be considered a total loss, even though most of the contents in the garage area were saved by firefighters.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
