No one was hurt in a structure fire during the early morning hours Sunday.

When Alpena Fire Department crews arrived, flames were coming out of the structure near a gas meter. The fire was quickly extinguished, and a search confirmed the structure was vacant.

Damage was confined to the gas meter and the immediate area on the exterior of the structure.

The cause remains under investigation.

Crews remained on scene for over an hour and were assisted by the Alpena Police Department, Alpena Power Co., and DTE Energy.
