Alpena Community College brings in recruits: Donajkowski moves forward
ALPENA — Along with Alpena Wildcat Caleb McEwen, Kaleb Donajkowski also plans to take his talents to Alpena Community College.
Like McEwen, Donajkowski will also attempt pitching for the Lumberjacks, where he recently found great success as a starter for the Wildcats last season.
The one irreplaceable aspect of Donajkowski’s game is his ability to throw hard and limit solid contact. He is also a left-handed pitcher, unique for a player who intensely pitches the ball.
Although ACC appreciates his decision to join the newly formed baseball team, he has always chosen to be a Lumberjack.
“I chose ACC because it’s a local college that allows me to get a great education along with a chance to play baseball after high school,” Donajkowski said. “I’ve always grown up wanting to play baseball as much as possible, and now I can keep going with my dream.”
Donajkowski will eliminate football and continue his baseball path as another two-sport athlete joins the Lumberjacks.
While Donajkowski didn’t strike out as many batters on the mound as McEwen, the numbers were similar, and Coach Rob Enslen has much to look forward to between the two players.
Bringing a hard-working mentality and a player that can eat up innings is exactly what Donajkowski wants to bring to this new recruitment of players at ACC.
“I’m hoping I can continue to develop as a player and have a great college career. Not only do I want to succeed in baseball, but also in my classes at the college,” stated Donajkowski.
Aside from baseball, Donajkowski has bigger plans outside of sports.
Sports are still a passion, but pursuing education beyond a high school diploma is essential for Donajkowski.
Even though he is still undecided on his career path, going to school locally at a lower expense will give him plenty of time and opportunity to decide what he wants to do after college.
Donajkowski ended the signing by thanking everyone who has helped him become the person he is now and everyone who supported him along the way.
