LOCAL SPORTS ROUNDUP: AHS baseball takes win against Tawas
On Wednesday, the Alpena High School baseball team defeated Tawas 12-0 in game one.
Jake Zann earned the win by throwing six innings, striking out 8. He also was 3-3 at the plate. Owen Kaiser, Grant Jarema, Nathen Southard, Conner Cameron, Caleb McEwen, and Jalen Donjakowksi all had a hit.
Game two saw another win from the Wildcats with a final of 9-0.
Landon Gagnon started on the mound gaining the win, pitching three innings, and striking out four.
Jase Kollen pitched four innings in relief.
Kaleb Donjakowski was 2-5.
These two games set their record at 18-7.
HILLMAN BASEBALL PLAYS
ATLANTA AND TAWAS
On Thursday, Hillman High School’s baseball team played two games against Atlanta.
Game one saw a win from the Tigers with a 14-12 final score. Hillman had four hits and six errors, while Atlanta had six hits and 11 errors.
The Tigers took a stronger win in game two with a final of 25-3. The game wrapped up in three innings.
Hillman had six hits that game and three errors, and Atlanta was unable to get a hit and had two errors.
Against Tawas on Friday, Hillman took a win in game one with a final of 5-3.
Hillman had four hits and one error, while Tawas had five hits and two errors.
Game two, the Tigers lost 4-5.
Tawas had seven hits that game and two errors, while Hillman was only able to gather four hits and also had two errors.
Overall, Hillman is now 12-10-2 and 6-0 in the North Star League Little Dipper.
The Tigers play Johannesburg Lewiston on Tuesday at home.
