An Alpena contractor will on Monday begin removing trees between the sidewalk and curb line on State and Washington avenues, the city said in a news release.

At times, the contractor will have to close the shoulder and parking lanes, the city said, and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.

The closure is expected to last two weeks.
