Alpena’s boys basketball team defeated St. Ignace on Friday, 59-38.

Connor Cameron led the team with 24 points and Oliver Duthler added 12.

“We had a really sluggish and subpar first half, and our staff really challenged the guys to pick up the energy and effort,” coach Evan Neff said. “Right from the start of the third we paid attention to detail, played to our strengths, and executed our gameplan well. It helped that Connor Cameron exploded for 17 of his 24 in the third quarter alone.”

Points by quarter for Friday’s game were Alpena 9 – St. Ignace 6 in the first, Alpena 22 – St. Ignace 16 in the second, Alpena 45 – St. Ignace 26 in the third, and a final of Alpena 59 – St. Ignace 38.
