ALPENA — Tiberius Kirk Osbourne was born on New Years Day at 1:30 a.m., weighing 8 pounds and measuring 20 inches tall.

He was the first baby born at My Michigan Medical Center Alpena in 2025.

However, his due date was on Dec. 22, so the later birth was a surprise for his parents, Jennifer and Adam Osbourne.

If Tiberius were born on his due date, all six of the Osbourne’s children would’ve been born in a different month.

Now a family of eight, the Osbournes live in Alpena county on Indian Reserve Road.

Their other five children are aged 10, 8, 6, 4, and 1. Four of their children are boys, including Tiberius, while the other two are girls.

“Our last two children are the closest together in age,” Adam said.

The Osbournes have a family tradition of having their odd-numbered children born with their gender revealed, while the even-numbered children, including Tiberius, are born without their gender revealed.

If Tiberius were born as a girl, the Osbournes were considering the baby’s name to be Noelle Michaela.

“All of the children were excited to feel the baby moving,” Jennifer said. “That was fun for them.”

All three of their boys were excited for another boy, according to Jennifer. Although their eldest, Drake, said that they had too many children already.

“The baby kicked him while I was pregnant because the baby didn’t like what he said,” Jennifer said.

“The kids are all for it, as far as we could tell,” Adam said.

“We were surprised when we found out we were having another baby,” Jennifer said. “At that time, we had a 6-month-old.”

Tiberius was named after Adam’s grandfather’s nickname, as well as Star Trek’s Capt. James Tiberius Kirk, according to Adam.

Adam works as an information technology consultant at the hospital, where he has worked for the past 18 years, while Jennifer stays home to take care of their children.

Jennifer previously worked as a special education teacher through summer 2023. Her last four years of working were part-time, according to Jennifer.

“Once you get above three kids, it gets hard with dual employment,” Adam said.

The couple met at Central Michigan University. Adam is 43 and Jennifer is 41.
