DPI property sold
The former Decorative Panels International plant in Alpena has been sold, a Tuesday press release from DPI’s consulting firm, ERM, says.
The old plant was sold before an auction slated to begin on Tuesday.
ERM did not name the purchaser or say what the developer intends to do with the property.
The plant closed unexpectedly in February and more than 150 employees lost their jobs. Since then, the Alpena Municipal Council rezoned the property from heavy manufacturing to a waterfront district, which restricts large manufacturing plants from operating at the location.
There is also significant environmental contamination of the property that will have to be addressed.
The consultant said more details about the sale and what is next for the transition will be released in the future.
