PREP ROUNDUP: Hillman, Alcona basketball teams win
Hillman’s boys basketball team dropped a tough home game against Fairview 69-65 on Monday.
The loss dropped Hillman to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in the North Start League Little Dipper.
The game was back and forth all night with both teams holding slim leads throughout. The leading scorer for Hillman was Brenden Rouleau with 21. Senior Cuyler Schultz added 12 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and six steals. Rounding out the scoring for Hillman was Ty Muszynski and Evan Crane with 11 points. Crane and Muszynski also added six rebounds.
Hillman returns to action on Thursday against Mio on the road.
Hillman head coach Eric Muszynski said, “The game was back and forth all night. Fairview was very intense and played with a lot of energy. I thought we did some good things tonight but we struggled a little with defensive assignments at times tonight but kudos to Fairview they played with a lot of energy and got us for the first time in 13 years.”
ALCONA DEFEATS POSEN
The Alcona boys basketball team defeated Posen on Monday, 71-44.
Leading the Tigers were Evan Borsvold and Ricky Schott with 16 points each. Garrett Somers added 12 points, and Gavin Dellar added nine.
“Nice team win against a scrappy Posen team,” Alcona coach Alex Cole said. “After a slow start in the first half, we were able to take better care of the ball and get better looks on offense. I’m proud of the guys for staying focused and getting it done tonight.”
Alcona plays at Rogers City on Thursday.
