PREP ROUNDUP: Hillman tops Rogers City
Hillman’s boys basketball team stormed back from being down 15 points to pick up a four-point win, 53-49, over Rogers City on Wednesday.
Hillman outscored Rogers City 24-10 in the fourth quarter to improve to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the North Star League Little Dipper.
Hillman was led by Brenden Rouleau with 21 points and five steals. Junior center Evan Crane added 12 points to go along with seven rebounds.
Hillman coach Eric Muszynski said, “I think the guys found themselves tonight and realized that the system can really work if you play aggressively for 32 minutes. It was nice to see our intensity beginning around mid-third quarter and naturally in the fourth when we really turned it on.
“I would like to compliment my staff Mason VanPamel and Jon Hiveley on their awareness on the bench,” he continued. “Jon had a great suggestion in the fourth on a substitution and we rolled with it and it worked.”
Rogers City was led in scoring by Jase Wenzel with 24 and Justin Romel with 14.
Both teams play tonight with Rogers City at Whittemore-Prescott at 7:30 p.m. and Hillman hosting Alcona at 7:30 p.m.
