Fire breaks out at the Salvation Army

ALPENA — On Thursday afternoon, a fire started in the ceiling at the Salvation Army.
Firefighters crowded the doorway of the building, working on putting the fire out. The fire and smoke were not visible outside the building.
The fire seemed to be controlled, but a tower truck was brought in case the situation worsened.
The Alpena Township Fire Department and Alpena County Ambulance were on the scene.
The extent of damage to the building and the exact origin of the fire were unknown as of Thursday evening.
